Cancellation of Permaculture Family Course
We have decided to cancel the Permaculture Family Course. It is
always a hard decision to cancel a course and we apologise if this
has caused inconvenience. We have a number of factors that have
put the staff team under pressure over the summer and we feel we
cannot deliver a focussed course.
At present we have had no enquiries for the course, and this has
led us to question where we can better position, design content,
market and deliver the course. Any comments or suggestions would
be welcome so that we can redesign the course for the summer of
2011.
For instance
is it relevant to you that we try to teach adult centred sessions
as well as child and family centred?
Does Permaculture interest you – or are you more interested
in the ‘outside’ experience in general
Would a ‘bushcraft’ type course be of interest?
The price for the course is £225 per adult and £175
per child. We struggled to keep costs as low as possible whilst
providing adequate care and cover to comply with legislation and
provide the right ratios of staffing to children. The course was
unsubsidised and pay rates were close to minimum wage. What are
your thoughts on this? Are we trying to attempt the impossible?
Our original vision was to open the farm to families to come together
for a week to experience and enjoy the countryside, open fires,
harvesting and cooking veg and some creative and structured play.
We still want to pursue this vision and would welcome constructive
input from other likeminded people – thanks!
