Modern Bee Keeping has concentrated on maximising production
from managed hives at the expense of long term sustainability
of honey bee populations that are now collapsing.
This course brings the internationally recognised expertise of
Bees for Development to focus on our predicament here
in the UK. It is a new look at the relationship between humans
and honey bees. The weekend course will cover their role, value
and products, and focus on how we can manage our mutual relationship
to ensure their survival.
Honey bee populations are collapsing. We must ask urgent questions
about the sustainability of current approaches to keeping bees.
This introduction to bees and beekeeping considers how we can
redress the balance and be kinder to bees.

The weekend is held on a small farm overlooking the river Wye
in the Forest of Dean. The farm is run on permaculture principles,
and there will be a chance to look around the farm during the
weekend. "Relaxed yet
focused atmosphere. Beautiful location."
