The focus on a future of low carbon, peak oil and living sustainably
can spur us to action or seem overwhelming. How do we take action
in a meaningful way, in a personal capacity when the scale of
change required is so huge.
This interactive workshop is based on the work of Joanna Macy
and will guide participants into a personal discovery of what
we can do to restore our precious and endangered world. It is
an opportunity to contact our own authentic response to environmental
deterioration and find our personal compassionate actions as an
antidote to numbness and paralysis.

Joanna Macy
Joanna Macy is a renowned activist and teacher of uncanny courage
and ferocious compassion. For over 30 years she has been inviting
individuals and groups to walk through the gates of sorrow at
the state of the world into a new joy and gratitude at our utter
interdependence and solidarity with the rest of the planet.
Joanna’s approach combines the cognitive and ethical with
empathy and imagination. It draws on insights from contemporary
systems theory and ancient spiritual traditions to help us understand,
experience and gain strength from our connectedness. It is based
on the power of the group to generate courage and creativity.
She leads the way to a life with passion, joy and purpose.
