We make our award winning fruit juices here at Ragmans Lane farm.
The fruit comes from our own organic orchards and orchards in Herefordshire. We have over 30 different varieties of apples and pears on the farm. Many are old traditional varieties such as Taynton Codlin, Annie Elizabeth, and Ashmead's Kernel. Others are more modern varieties suitable for organic orchards. All of them have been chosen for their flavour and sharpness so that we can mix varieties to get sweet medium or dry without adding sugar. . To make a juice sweeter or dryer we use different apples - as simple as that! That's why we say ‘We don't put anything else in and we don't take anything out!'. To see our full range of juices click here. We make our juice in small batches so we can blend the apples to produce the flavour we want. The fruit is washed and graded by hand then milled into pulp before being pressed on a hydraulic press. For our blended juices raspberries and pears are pressed with the apple, and freshly pressed ginger root is added to the freshly pressed apples The juice is left to settle overnight before being bottled and pasteurised. About 1kg of fresh fruit makes a 750ml bottle of juice. In 2004 we achieved organic certification with the Soil Association, and now our entire range is organic. |
